Why Texas practices are in demand
Business-heavy client bases
With no state personal income tax, many Texas practices lean on business work: federal business returns, franchise tax reports, sales and use tax, payroll and bookkeeping. That recurring revenue is exactly what buyers pay a premium for.
A growing state
Texas keeps adding residents and new businesses, and every one of them needs tax, payroll and bookkeeping help. Buyers want an established client base in markets that keep growing.
An active pool of buyers
CPA firms, enrolled agents and regional firms are growing by acquisition across Texas metros, because buying a practice is faster than building one client at a time.
Owners planning succession
Many long-established Texas practices are run by owners nearing retirement. A planned sale gets them a fair price and gives their clients continuity.

Questions about buying and selling in Texas
Do you only work with Texas practices?
Texas is our focus, and Dallas–Fort Worth in particular, so that's where our buyer network is deepest. We can also help with practices in other states; ask us about yours.
Does Texas having no state income tax lower a practice's value?
Not in itself. Texas practices still prepare federal individual and business returns, and many also handle Texas franchise tax reports, sales and use tax filings, payroll and bookkeeping. Buyers often value that recurring business work highly, because it smooths out the tax-season peak.
Who can buy a CPA firm in Texas?
If the practice is a licensed Texas CPA firm, ownership rules from the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy apply, so the buyer's credentials affect how the deal is structured. A buyer who isn't a CPA may need to buy the practice's assets and client relationships rather than the firm itself. We flag this early, and your attorney confirms the details.
Can an EA or non-CPA tax preparer sell or buy a practice in Texas?
Yes. Texas doesn't license tax preparers at the state level, so practices run by enrolled agents or PTIN-holding preparers can change hands without a state license transfer. Federal requirements, such as a valid PTIN and e-file authorization, still apply to the buyer.
Which parts of Texas do you cover?
All of Texas. We're most active across Dallas–Fort Worth, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Arlington, Irving and Denton, and we also work with practices in Houston, Austin, San Antonio and smaller markets.
